Sun Yajun,male,born in September 1963,is from Guoyang,Anhui Province. He holds a postgraduate degree,a PhD,and is a second-level professor and doctoral supervisor. He serves as the vice chairman of the Mining Water Prevention and Utilization Specialty Committee of the Geological Society of China,the secretary-general of the China National Committee of the International Mine Water Association (IMWA),a member of the Water Hazard Prevention Committee of the China Coal Industry Safety Science and Technology Society,a member of the Water Prevention and Control Specialty Committee of the Coal Industry Technology Committee,a recipient of the National Science and Technology Progress Award,and the leader of a national key research and development project.

He is primarily engaged in research and teaching in the fields of mine hydrogeology,coal mine water hazard prevention,and mine water pollution control. He has achieved numerous significant research outcomes in areas such as mine water inrush prediction methods,coal mining under large surface water bodies,coal mining above ultra-high pressure aquifers,water conservation coal mining in water-scarce mining areas in the west,hydrogeological structural characteristics of Jurassic coal fields in the west,and "green mine closure" in mines. He has received 14 national and provincial science and technology progress awards,including one second prize from the National Science and Technology Progress Award,four first prizes,two second prizes,and seven third prizes at the provincial and ministerial levels. He has published three monographs and over 110 academic papers.
