    I. Introduction to CSCA

    China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) is a standardized test designed for international students who plan to pursue undergraduate degrees in China.

    Organized by China Scholarship Council (CSC) and jointly developed with experts from Chinese universities, CSCA assesses students’ language proficiency and academic readiness, helping them better prepare for undergraduate studies in China.

    CSCA is also an important reference used by Chinese universities in their admission and scholarship evaluation processes.

    II. Test Subjects

    CSCA includes four subjects:Professional Chinese, Mathematics, Physics, andChemistry.

    1.Professional Chinese

    1) Professional Chinese is mandatory for programs taught in Chinese, with two test options: Humanities Chinese and STEM Chinese.

    2) Applicants applying for undergraduate degree programs taught entirely in English are exempt from the Professional Chinese test.

    3) Applicants applying for undergraduate degree programs in Chinese Language who can provide a valid HSK Level 4 score report may be exempted from the Professional Chinese test.

    2.Mathematics (Mandatory)

    Mathematics is a mandatory subject for all applicants, regardless of whether they are applying for Chinese-taught or English-taught programs.

    3.Physics and Chemistry (Optional)

    Applicants applying for science or engineering programs must choose at least one of these two subjects.

    Note: The Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry tests are available in both Chinese and English. Candidates should choose the test language based on the language of instruction of their applied program. All Chinese-taught programs use the Chinese version, with the exception of the English-taught majors in Mining Engineering, Safety Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, which use the English version.

    III. CUMT’s Requirements for CSCA

    Applicants for undergraduate programs must submit CSCA transcripts for the following subjects.

    1.Professional Chinese (Mandatory for Chinese-taught programs)

    (1)Humanities Chinese:programs inFinance, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resource

    Management, Electronic Commerce, Big Data Management and Application, Public Administration, Emergency Management, Land Resources Management, English, Environment Design, Sports Training, Social Sports Instruction and Administration.

    (2)STEM Chinese:All other undergraduate programs

    2.Mathematics(Mandatory for all programs)

    3.Physics or Chemistry

    Applicants for STEM and related programs must submit a transcript for either Physics orChemistry.(Excluding programs in Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resource Management, Electronic Commerce, Big Data Management and Application, Public Administration, Emergency Management, Land Resources Management, English, Sports Training, Social Sports Instruction and Administration, Environment Design.)

    Note:Admission is based on subject scores, with selection of the most qualified candidates.

    IV. CSCA Schedule

    The first global CSCA will be launched on December 21, 2025. Commencing in 2026, CSCA will transition into a regular operational phase, conducting five examination sessions annually in January, March, April, June, and December.

    Examination sessions in December, April, and June will be primarily scheduled during daytime business hours across the Asia-Pacific region.Sessions in January and March will be preferentially arranged to align with daytime business hours in European, African, and American regions.

    V. Test Format

    Initially, CSCA will be conducted primarily in a remote, home-based online format, with onsite test centers (computer-based or paper-based) gradually established in major source countries and regions.

    VI. Score and Results

    Score release dates vary by test format: results for online and onsite computer-based tests will be announced within 7 working days after the test, while paper-based test results will be released within 14 working days.

    VIII. Registration and Exam Process

    Carefully read the exam registration guidelines, complete registration, and prepare for the exam.

    After receiving exam results, submit them along with other application materials for undergraduate programs.
